Garage Sale

Our School will be hosting a community garage sale this month.  You can rent a space in our parking lot and on the day of the garage sale, sale your stuff.  You get to keep the money you earn that day.

What a great way to help out our school, get rid of your old things, make a little money, and get involved in the community.

Contact the school office for more details.

Harvest Festival

Our Harvest Festival (or Harvest Fest for short) will be on Wednesday, October 31, 2012 during the day.  What is a Harvest Fest?  Well, just think of the Spring Fiesta we had last year in May.  The Harvest Fest will be a lot like the Spring Fiesta only it will be in the Fall instead of the Spring.

Mark this day on your calendars and invite your family and friends.  It will be during the school day just like the Spring Fiesta.  How fun!

Candy Drive

We will be having a Fall Festival next month (more information on the Fall Festival will be on my blog next week).  In preparation for the Fall Festival we are asking for CANDY donations.  Mr. Parker has rewards for the classes who bring in the most CANDY.

Bring your favorite CANDY because whatever CANDY we collect will be the CANDY we distribute at the different booths at the Fall Festival!

The CANDY drive starts on October 1, 2012.  Don't bring the CANDY before Monday, October 1st.  After that, you can bring as much CANDY as you want, bring it to your teacher and wait until October 31st when we distribute the CANDY to the whole school at the Fall Festival.

About Mrs. Gardner

I am a highly qualified teacher, graduating from Northern Arizona University in 1999 with a degree in Elementary Education and an emphasis in Early Childhood (birth to 8 years old).  I taught 2nd grade for 6 years from 2000-2006.  Then I taught 1st grade and then 3rd grade.

In 2009 I began working at Liberty Traditional Charter School as the computer teacher.

On a more personal note, I was born in California and am the oldest of 5 children.  We moved to Northeast Phoenix when I was a freshman in high school.  My husband and I were married in 2008.  Last year our daughter was born into our little family.  Most of our family lives in Phoenix.

I am looking forward to working with your students.

If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to ask.

SEI and Mainstream Classrooms

In order for us to follow state mandates we needed to put all ELL students in K-2 grades in an SEI classroom.  Proficient and English speaking students need to be in a mainstream classroom.

In order to accomadate the massive numbers a 1st grade/2nd grade SEI combo class was created.  Mrs. Soto is teaching this class.  She will be teaching the ELP Standards for 1st and 2nd grades.  This is not a demotion for the 2nd graders.  It is just a way we created in order to not overload the 2nd grade and 1st grade SEI classes.  The 2nd graders will continue to learn the 2nd grade curriculum and the 1st graders will continue to learn the 1st grade curriculum.

A Kindergarten/1st grade mainstream class was also created.  There were only 13 proficient and English students in 1st grade.  They were combined with 7 kindergarteners.  This was done so as to not overburden the mainstream kindergarten class.  This class was moved to the kindergarten campus but it is not a demotion for these 1st graders.  The first graders will be taught the 1st grade standards and the kindergarteners will be taught the kindergarten standards.

Due to the difficulty finding the right highly qualified early childhood certified teacher for this position I have agreed to teach this class so that we can be in compliance with state regulations.

365

It has been 365 days since Hannah's birth.  Since this was a leap year and we had an extra day in February she won't turn 1 year old until tomorrow, on the 366th day of her birth.

Her birthday is tomorrow but her party is on Saturday.  I'll post pictures for those of you who are interested.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY HANNAH!

Computer Teacher

As the first full week comes to a close, you should all know by now that I am not the computer teacher this year.  I am still at the school but now I am SEI Coordinator.  That means I will be working with the ELL (English Language Learner) Students (those who need help learning English).

Yes! I am going to miss being your computer teacher but I am still around campus and I will still see you all.  I enjoyed being your computer teacher.  I still have my blog and I plan on adding more games and stuff for you to play.  I plan on adding a new post every week so check it often.  In a few weeks I'll be changing my background, too!

Mrs. Frappier is the new computer teacher.  She is nice.  Treat her with respect.  If there are any problems, know that you can let me know.  There shouldn't be any problems just so long as you treat her and the lab with respect just like there weren't any problems when you treated me and the lab with respect.

Change is always difficult but it is not always bad.  Change is different.  Have patience during this transitional period.

Now, with my new role as the SEI Coordinator I will be able to spend more time with my little girl.  She is almost 1 years old now.  She misses me so much when I am gone, and I miss her.

I am very excited to start this new position.

Summer Updates

I know many of you want to know how my daughter is doing and you want to see updated pictures of her.  I'll be adding some more new pictures every week until school starts!

We moved this summer so things have been really busy for us packing and unpacking.

I can hardly believe summer is almost over.  I have enjoyed being a Mommy full time and I will miss my daughter when I go back to work in August.

See you all August 8th when school starts again.
